Eligibility
Age Limit
There is no age limit to learn how to fly, but you need to be at least 16 years of age to go solo.
To hold a New Zealand Private Pilot Licence you must be 17 years of age.
To hold a New Zealand Commercial Pilot Licence you must be 18 years of age.
Medical
For you to go solo and attain your PPL you must at least hold a DL9 medical. It is recommended that if you are pursuing flying as a career that you should attain a NZ CAA class 1 and class 2 medical before you start flying.
Theory Exams
To hold a PPL you are required to sit 6 PPL Subjects and an ICAO English language assessment.
To gain your CPL there are further 6 exams that you must pass before sitting the CPL practical flight test.
